The full golf swing

The full swing is the power swing, which is commonly practised and performed the most. It is in essence the way we build up to the most important part of the swing, which is the impact zone.

For consistent, successful shots it is essential for the club to be coming into the impact zone and to the back of the ball squarely to the target line. It is not vital for every golfer to perform the full swing movement the same as long as the position that they reach at the crucial impact zone is correct. There are many different ways of reaching this position correctly but there are proven ways to perform the full swing efficiently and consistently.

First and most importantly are the fundamentals of the golf swing, which are :

  • Grip
  • Posture
  • Alignment
  • Ball position

Once all these factors have been addressed and practiced, the golfer is ready to begin forming the swing. It can be broken down into small stages but it is more commonly split into the backswing, the downswing and the follow through. It is important to stress that it is performed in one full fluid motion.
